CS2 server latency depends on three layers: server hardware, network configuration, and game settings. Here is how to optimize all three.
server.cfg Optimizations
// 128-tick competitive standard
sv_minrate 128000
sv_maxrate 786432
sv_mincmdrate 128
sv_maxcmdrate 128
sv_minupdaterate 128
sv_maxupdaterate 128
Network-Level Fixes
- Use a wired Ethernet connection (never WiFi for a server)
- Enable QoS on your router and prioritize game traffic
- Disable Windows Update bandwidth throttling
Note: Home server connections will always have variable latency because ISPs do not guarantee upload bandwidth. A dedicated server with BGP routing provides a consistent sub-10ms experience.
Want real low-latency servers?
Our CS2 servers run at 128-tick with enterprise network routing. No lag, no jitter, no ISP throttling.
