Minecraft: Java Edition server hosting, done right

Minecraft: Java Edition is the original block-building sandbox, and the modding capital of the game — Paper, Spigot, Forge and Fabric power everything from tiny SMPs to huge modded networks. A dedicated server keeps your world, plugins and players online 24/7. Pick a plan and your Minecraft: Java Edition server deploys in under 60 seconds — no manual install, no command line, no shared lobbies. It ships ready for Paper, Spigot, Purpur, Forge and Fabric, so you can shape the server exactly how your community plays.

We run Minecraft: Java Edition on high-clock AMD Ryzen CPUs with NVMe SSD storage, wrapped in always-on multi-Tbps DDoS protection — for smooth tick rates, fast world loads and single-digit ping. We recommend around 2–8 GB+ (modpack-dependent) of RAM, scaling with players and mods. Plans scale to 1–100+ slots.

Manage everything from a modern control panel: a live console, one-click mod & plugin installer, visual config editor, scheduled automatic backups — plus real 24/7 human support whenever you need it.

What Minecraft: Java Edition needs from a server

Can Bedrock players join?

Java Edition and Bedrock Edition use different default server software: server.jar for Java, BDS for Bedrock. GeyserMC describes itself as a program that allows Bedrock Edition clients to join Java Edition servers, and Floodgate is the add-on that lets Bedrock players join without logging in to a paid Java Edition account.

Geyser's requirements depend on the server software and the Minecraft version you run, so start from a server you can install add-ons on. The setup guide covers the version conditions and the UDP port it needs.

Plugin and mod support

Java Edition add-ons come in two formats, and which one applies depends on the server software you run: Paper and Spigot run plugins, while Fabric runs server mods. The two are not interchangeable, so pick the server software that matches the content you want to run.

Either way the files are placed in the server's own directories, so file access to the server installation is required.

Java runtime your Minecraft version needs

The server runs as a JAR, so the Java runtime installed on the machine must be at least as new as the Java version the JAR was compiled against. Check this against the Minecraft version you plan to run:

Minecraft versionRequired Java
1.12 and laterJava 8
1.18 and laterJava 17
1.20.5–1.21.11Java 21
26.1 and laterJava 25

The requirement is a floor, not an exact match: the wiki states that older Minecraft versions can run on newer Java, citing 1.16 on Java 17. Paper's table lists Java 21 for 1.20–1.21.11 and Java 25 for 26.1+.
