ARK: Survival Ascended is a Heavy-class game. For a smooth experience we recommend 12–24 GB RAM, scaling with player count and mods. CPU clock speed matters most for tick rate — our high-clock AMD Ryzen hardware keeps ARK: Survival Ascended fast even under load, and you can upgrade in one click as your community grows.
Memory use depends on which map you run. These are the figures the official ARK community wiki records for an empty ASA server:
| Map | Idle memory |
|---|---|
| Extinction | 7–8.5 GiB |
| Scorched Earth | 7.5–9 GiB |
| The Island | 8–10 GiB |
| Aberration | 8–10 GiB |
| The Center | 10.5–12 GiB |
Those are starting points, not ceilings. Memory use rises with every connected player and keeps climbing as the world ages and accumulates structures and tamed creatures, so leave headroom above the idle figure for the map you plan to run. A clean ASA server installation also takes around 11 GiB of disk space. In a cluster, each map runs as a separate server instance, so size memory per map rather than per cluster.
An unofficial ASA server can accept a single platform or several at once: Steam PC, the Microsoft Store version, Xbox, and PlayStation 5. Which platforms are allowed is a per-server setting, so a mixed PC-and-console group can share one server, and a PC-only server is equally possible. The exact launch argument and its values are in our ASA server setup guide.
If you run more than one map, Cross-ARK transfers let survivors, items and tamed creatures move between your own maps once those servers share a cluster ID and one common storage location. Each of those three transfer types can be blocked separately, in either direction, if you would rather keep maps isolated.
