Terraria server hosting, done right

Terraria is the 2D action-sandbox of digging, building and boss fights. A dedicated server (vanilla or TShock) keeps your world live for the whole group, with plugins and tModLoader for deeper mods. Pick a plan and your Terraria server deploys in under 60 seconds — no manual install, no command line, no shared lobbies. It ships ready for TShock and tModLoader, so you can shape the server exactly how your community plays.

We run Terraria on high-clock AMD Ryzen CPUs with NVMe SSD storage, wrapped in always-on multi-Tbps DDoS protection — for smooth tick rates, fast world loads and single-digit ping. We recommend around 1–3 GB of RAM, scaling with players and mods. Plans scale to 1–16 slots (255 max).

Manage everything from a modern control panel: a live console, one-click mod & plugin installer, visual config editor, scheduled automatic backups — plus real 24/7 human support whenever you need it.

What Terraria needs from a server

Which Terraria server build your mods need

Terraria content mods and server plugins are two separate ecosystems, and each needs its own server build.

  • tModLoader loads content mods packaged as .tmod files and runs as a separate application with its own dedicated-server build.
  • TShock is described by its project as a toolbox for Terraria servers and communities, adding anti-cheat, server-side characters, groups, permissions and item bans. Its extensions are server-side plugins compiled as .dll files.

Hardware support differs between the two. tModLoader's dedicated-server documentation states that ARM support does not exist for tModLoader or the dedicated server, and that there is no known way to run it on ARM. TShock's wiki takes the opposite position, listing x86, x86_64, arm32, arm64 and arm64e as supported. Each TShock release also tracks a specific Terraria build: 6.1 added support for 1.4.5.6.

Licences and accounts a Terraria server needs

The vanilla dedicated server comes directly from Re-Logic. The official wiki points to a packaged download on terraria.org, currently terraria-server-1456.zip, and notes that the same executables already sit inside an existing game installation, under steamapps\common\terraria on Steam or GOG Games\terraria on GOG.

tModLoader is listed on Steam as a free mod that requires you to own Terraria. The same requirement surfaces at install time: its management script pulls the build through SteamCMD with your Steam username, though the script also offers a GitHub release path that needs no Steam login.

TShock is distributed as release archives from its GitHub project.

Joining from another platform

Crossplay is limited, and the official wiki's multiplayer page is precise about which combinations work.

  • Players on different platforms — Desktop, PlayStation, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Mobile — cannot play multiplayer together.
  • Only Android and iOS players can play cross-platform with each other.
  • One exception comes with a caveat: the wiki says Desktop-to-Mobile crossplay works through dedicated servers thanks to the parity between those builds, but calls it likely unintentional — so an update could end it.

Mobile players reach an online server the way desktop players do, by entering its IP and port. Whatever platform they are on, everyone joining needs the same Terraria build as the server.
